Raila reveals how Miguna disobeyed him leading to his deportation

Raila spoke while on his tour in United Kingdom

He added that the Miguna’s issue had been blown out of proportion and that his return was part of the handshake package with President Uhuru Kenyatta at Harambee house.

“Miguna went around, he went to the US and then came here and then from here to Dubai and he came to Nairobi and we had sent the lawyers to go and meet him at the airport to bring him in. when they went in there, there were problems, I was told Miguna has not been cleared. Mid-day nothing has happened, afternoon nothing has happened until evening. I decided myself to go to the airport, when I got there I found them inside, I found Orengo, Khaminwa and Havi, I asked them what is happening and then I said no let’s get out I grabbed Miguna’s hand came out with him but at the main gate, they closed the door. Then they came and told me mzee sisi tuko na instructions kutoka juu hatuna shida na bwana Miguna tunataka tu atupatie passport tupige stamp aende. Then I asked Miguna to give them the passport to stamp and he said he did not have the passport, he had only an ID card. Then they said if we allow him we will be in trouble, I sat there and they took Miguna inside, I did not talk that time.” Said Raila in one of his speeches in the U.K.

The opposition Chief added that the following day Miguna was given forms that would allow him back into the country to sign but he refused.

“So in the morning they invited officials from the Canadian embassy to the aiport, when they gave Miguna forms to sign, so that they could stamp those forms and then let him in, he took those forms and tore them. Those are things which have not been said out.” He said.

Raila Odinga however said that for the self-declared NRM General to be allowed back he has to first go the Kenya High Commission in Otawa and get travel documents to come with to Kenya.
