The Trouble NASA leaders have faced since Raila's Swearing-in

Full Details has compiled the predicaments NASA leaders have gone through since Mr. Odinga took the oath of office as the People’s President.

TJ Kajwang Arrested

Ruaraka Member of Parliament TJ Kajwang was the first person to be arrested for allegedly administering the oath to the former Prime Minister.

Mr. Kajwang wore an advocate’s regalia to the controversial event held at Uhuru Park and was standing beside Mr. Odinga during the oath-taking. However, Mr. Odinga lifted the Bible and read the oath without any help.

Kalonzo’s Home attack

Mr. Odinga’s Deputy and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's Karen home was attacked a day after missing the swearing-in ceremony.

According to Mr. Musyoka, an object that looked like a grenade was thrown into his compound at 2:00 am on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

Aladwa Arrested

Makadara MP George Aladwa was arrested on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Police Spokesman Charles Owino linked Mr. Aladwa to the attack at Kalonzo’s home.

The lawmaker was later released on a free bond after police established thathe was in Mombasa for a Parliamentary meeting during the attack.

Instead, Aladwa was charged with participating in an illegal event.

Bodyguard withdrawal and revocation of gun license

The Firearms Licensing Board revoked the gun license of Dagoretti MP Simba Arati after he was linked to the National Resistance Movement (NRM), which Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i declared it was an illegal group.

Other leaders including Kalonzo, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Embakasi MP Babu Owino among others divulged that their bodyguards had been withdrawn.

Passport Suspension

On Tuesday the Government through the Department of Immigration Services suspended the passports of National Super Alliance (NASA) Chief Strategist David Ndii, controversial businessman Jimi Wanjigi, Siaya Senator James Orengo, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama.

The leaders were instructed to submit the document to the Immigration office.

Miguna Miguna arrested and Deported

Self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna may be the only Opposition leader who has suffered tremendously after pushing and participating in Odinga’s swearing-in.

Miguna was theatrically apprehended by flying squad officers at his Runda home on Friday, February 2, 2018.

The Canadian-based lawyer was then freed by the High Court on a Sh50, 000 cash bail but police officers refused to release him.

After his last appearance on Friday evening, Miguna disappeared from the public eye, something that prompted his lawyers to question whether he was alive or in the hospital during a court session.

Despite court orders issued to police to have Miguna availed in court so that he can be charged the police continually defied the orders.

Three times the police failed to produce Miguna at Milimani Law Courts. Instead, he was taken to a Kajiado Court on Tuesday where he was expected to take a plea which he refused.

He insisted to be taken to Nairobi where Justice Luka Kimaru was waiting to hear his case at 3 PM.

It appeared that Miguna was en route to Milimani Law Court where NASA leaders including Mr. Odinga convened awaiting his arrival but he never showed up.

Instead, the Government opted to deport the former Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant to Canada on grounds that he had renounced his Kenyan Citizenship.
