Governor Sonko raids Uhuru’s staff with lucrative deal

Sonko surprises President Uhuru with his move

Sonko has nominated and presented the name of Peter Kariuki to the County Assembly as his nominee for County Secretary.

In accordance to Section 44(a and b) Sonko has nominated Peter Kariuki who currently works at the project Delivery Unit in the office of the President.

“Pursuant to Section 44 2(a and b) of the County Government Act, 2012, I hereby nominate Mr Peter Kariuki to be considered for approval by the County Assembly for the appointment to the position of County Secretary,” Sonko addressed County Speaker Beatrice Elachi in a letter.

Sonko is counting on Mr Kariuki’s experience should his name be approved the by the County Assembly.

Kariuki will be the third county secretary for Nairobi County since the start of the devolved units in the country.

The first County Secretary, Lilian Ndegwa was kicked out of the office over corruptions allegations, and later charged, alongside other county officials, with defrauding the county of shs17 million.

Her position was taken up by Dr Robert Ayisi who later stepped aside in August over health problems. Leboo Ole Morintat took over in acting Capacity.

Kariuki was part of eight names that were short listed and interviewed for the position back in October.

The office of the county secretary is the heartbeat of all operations by the executive in the county.

The County Secretary heads the County Public Service in addition to being the secretary to the County Executive Committee.
