Has Sonko gone into hiding?

His bodyguards were withdrawn last week

On Monday, Sonko chaired a Cabinet meeting at his expansive Mua family home.

The Star has reported that all the nine CECs have returned to the governor's home for another meeting.

A publication quoted a CEC indicating they were summoned to Machakos for a meeting on Sunday evening.

Contacted by Pulselive.co.ke, Sonko's Communications Director Richard Bosire downplayed Monday's Cabinet meeting stating that the governor had not shifted his base of operations.

The Ministry of Interior, working with the National Police Service, has cut down Sonko's security detail as part of a bigger programme of restructuring VIP security in Kenya.

In the downscaling exercise, the Nairobi Governor lost 21 bodyguards and has been left with a lean security team of five officers.

The flamboyant Governor has claimed that he fears his life is in danger after receiving threats from a senior government official.
