Sonko's team agree to resign within 30 days should they fail in this task

Sonko's team given deadline to deliver or resign

The Statement read in part that “Much has been discussed in the last few days on the 30-day agenda and the beauty of these targets and timelines is that those asked to implement the projects and programmes have agreed to resign if these timelines are not met”.

At meeting between the President and the Nairobi regeneration committee held on Friday, Sonko undertook to lead the team in sorting out the garbage and traffic menace that has been a major challenge in Nairobi for years.

The statement singled out three pledges touching on garbage build up and the traffic menace with a clear agreement of what the governor undertook to do in addressing the issues.

“First, within one month, there should be no piles of garbage in any of the 85 electoral wards of the city of Nairobi.”

In regard to traffic, the statement read in part that “Bus Rapid Transport will be preceded by the availability of 39 buses and infrastructure improvement on Langata, Mombasa, Jogoo and Juja roads, as well as Waiyaki Way”.

The elected Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe quit office in January making matters worse for Sonko who had indicated that he would deal with political element of Nairobi while his deputy would take charge of management and administration.
