Joho, who is known to be a political kingpin in the Coast, vowed to frustrate the efforts of Mr. Ruto to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

Though avoiding to mention Mr. Ruto by name, Joho fondly known as Governor 001 stated that he will be working with Mr. Ruto’s rivals to see to it that he does not clinch the presidential seat.

"Say what you want and do what you want, but politics is a game. We will deal with you by working with your opponents. Let us not blame one another. Let’s see what will happen com 2022," he said.

The Governor went on to urge Kenyans to turn down corrupt leaders when they come seeking for their votes.

"You should resist corruption and corrupt leaders. Let’s be careful to ensure our lives are in safe hands. Only leaders who value humanity will improve people’s lives," Joho said.

This comes at a time Coast leaders led by Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa have vowed to support DP Ruto during the 2022 presidential race.

There have been concerns that Ruto is slowly winning the support of the Coast, a region  believed to be an Opposition stronghold, through the many visits he has been making.
