Deputy President William Ruto’s personal assistant Farouk Kibet stated that David Murathe would reconcile with the DP and help him win the 2022 election.
Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with KTN, Mr Kibet maintained that Murathe was not an enemy of the DP's camp.
No harm meant
“He does not mean any harm with his statement. Maybe he will go and sit and reflect on and he will come back," Kibet stated.
"He is one of us, we built this party from the scratch together, we want to move forward together him and speaking as a person who knows the Deputy President I can tell you he will want us all to be one,” he added.
Kibet expressed confidence that many leaders will join the DP's camp and Murathe will be among those who will campaign for Ruto.
“Murathe is not the first person to resign nor is he the first person to oppose the DP’s candidature but everything will be okay. He had a decision to make and he knows why he did what he did but there are no permanent enemies in politics," the DP's PA said.
"I believe we will be reconciled with our brother, because he has no other place to go,” he said during the live interview," he added.
The fall out
On Sunday, Murathe announced his resignation from his post as the Jubilee Party Vice Chairman citing the conflict of interest in his bid to block Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
He declared that he would be heading to the Supreme Court to seek an interpretation on the DP's eligibility to vie for the presidency.
Murathe claimed that Ruto’s mode of operation is not good for the country, further alleging that the DP directs his lieutenants to engage in “unorthodox stuff.”
He, however, did not elaborate on what that meant.
