According to Amani National Congress (ANC) national chairman Kelvin Lunani, Jubilee is using the party's former secretary general Godfrey Osotsi to destabilise them to ensure that Mudavadi does not stand a chance for a higher office in 2022.
Lunani claimed the strategy was to ensure Mudavadi does not have a party to mount a serious stab at a national office as was the case in 2013.
“The script has all the hallmarks of how Jubilee caused instability in UDF after the 2013 election, because the so-called petitioners unlawfully prefer the Registrar of Political Parties rather than reporting any grievance to the internal dispute mechanism," Lunani stated as reported in The Star.
Osotsi was replaced as ANC secretary general by political analyst Barrack Muluka.
NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi appointed Muluka, following a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee on October 12 in Nairobi.
However, Muluka's appointment has been challenged at the Registrar of Political Parties by eight ANC members who are alleged to be close to Osotsi.
In the petition filed at the Registrar, ANC member Ibrahim Memba said the party did not give enough time to its members to raise objection on the appointment of Muluka.
The petitioner also claimed that officials contravened section 20 (2 and 3) of the Political Parties Act which demands that a party exploit all complaints and dispute mechanisms before effecting any changes.
