I was taken to the middle of the forest by 10 armed men – David Ndii

David Ndii recounts frightening experience after dramatic arrest

Speaking at the Wiper offices in Nairobi on Saturday Mr. Ndii disclosed that he was taken into the middle of the forest by about 10 armed police officers.

The well-known Economist stated that he was terrified and expected the armed men to harm him.

"If you are with ten armed policemen in the forest in the middle of the night you can only fear for the worst.

“I was not arrested I was abducted. About 10 armed men came to my hotel, put me in a car, drove me to the police station but I was not booked. Once I was put in that car I did not put my foot down only for toilet breaks in the middle of the forest," he said.

The Economist emphasised: "Up to now there is no record in the Government of Kenya that I was under arrest".

Mr. Ndii went ahead to dismiss incitement charges that were laid against him describing them as non-serious.

"By the time I was done with the police at DCI, they were embarrassed with what they were accusing me of because it was fake news, " he remarked.

He further accused the Government of attempting to silence alternative voices through intimidation.

Ndii was addressing journalists during a meeting of NASA People's assemblies organising committee planning the swearing-in of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Mr. Ndii, who is a critic of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Government, on Friday disclosed that the police treated him respectfully after the arrest.

"They were civil and respectful. They were just following orders," he said when asked by a tweep.

The bold NASA strategist also dared President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to stop using State machinery to silence NASA leaders instead face them head-on.

”I have been reminded that Uhuruto are wimps cowering behind state power. Let them come out here and we face off mano y mano," he tweeted.
