IEBC ready to proceed with election in Nyanza
The electoral body has announced that campaigns for the by-election will end on November 5.
The electoral commission announced that it would go on to conduct the by-election in Kitutu Chache South in Kisii County.
The election was postponed after the death one aspiring candidates on the Jubilee ticket passed on a few days to the August 8 election.
Jubilee has since picked Anthony Kibagendi who defected from ODM as their new candidate.
The seven candidates cleared by IEBC to run for the by-election seek to seat that was previously held by Ford Kenya’s Richard Onyoka.
IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati stated in a notice on the Kenyan Gazette that campaigns of the by election will end on November 5 and the election held November 7.
It read, “Political parties and Independent candidates shall appoint and submit to the commission the names of their Chief Elections Agents to the commission on or before October 23.”
The by-election was casted over by the repeat elections that took place on October 26 that saw a lesser turn out of voters.
The electoral body intends to also hold elections in Bogichora Ward in Nyamira county and Masalani Ward, Garissa.
