Obado set to be expelled from ODM
He has been rejected from within the party
The Migori ODM disciplinary committee passed the decision to expel Migori Governor Okoth Obado from the party.
The committee forwarded Obado's name among three others who were accused of not being loyal to the party.
Disciplinary committee chair Joseph Muniko explained that Obado has been disobeying the party and publicly opposed the party's position especially in the recent senate election.
"He has embarrassed the party and the party leader…he has also been campaigning for another candidate outside of the party…we summoned him to come yet he ignored all sittings," the committee's report read in part.
Two Expelled from ODM
ODM Secretary-general Edwin Sifuna on Wednesday announced that two of those on the expulsion list had been officially removed and replaced.
Festos Mapesa and Joseph Nyambori were removed as chairperson and secretary in the region as Sifuna stated that the party would only recognize Philip Makabongo and Joseph Olala in the respective positions.
Masaba ward MCA Abedi Maroa and Obado now await party leader Raila Odinga's final word on their expulsion.
Being expelled from a political party means that the particular member has been forcefully removed from the party and is no longer considered as one of the members.
