Critics were quick to react claiming that the slot was a preserve of the Odinga family and accusing the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) of attempting to appease Raila Odinga through the appointment.

The MCAs however refuted the claims, affirming that Jaoko has a right to serve in the county government having qualified and met all the requirements.

Similar reaction was witnessed when Oburu Odinga was nominated by Orange Democratic Movement to the EALA.

A section of the public accused the party of awarding the position to an Odinga family member at a time when there were many other qualified and loyal party members.
