Moi assembles team to take over from Uhuru
For a long time, Ruto has been the king of Rift Valley politics with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi battling to dethrone the self-made politician.
According to the Star, the Baringo Senator is assembling his troupes in readiness for the 2022 in an alliance that will send Ruto packing in 2022.
Top of the agenda of the new alliance is ensuring that the allies get appointed to influential cabinet positions and state corporations from where they will influence the 2022 race.
Leading the pack is former Meru governor Peter Munya who decamped to the opposition before retreating to support President Kenyatta.
Munya who enjoys massive support in Meru County and its environs lost the gubernatorial race to Kiraitu Murungi and could help Moi gain support in the region.
Isack Rutto has also been fronted for key appointment and will be a great asset to Moi in his bid to dethrone Ruto in Rift Valley and take the presidency back to the Moi family.
The former Bomet governor and Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) leader fell out with the DP and led a serious of onslaughts that weakened the DP’s influence in parts of Rift Valley.
Vocal Kenya African National Union (KANU) secretary General Nick Salat stated that “either Rutto or he might join the Cabinet, since they both come from Bomet County.”
In a telephone interview with the Star, Gideon Moi confirmed that he had fronted various people to be appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta but declined to name them.
Kigumo legislator Jamleck Kamau will also be on the line up in a new political alliance that will help Moi in his 2022 bid.
The Baringo Senator is also pushing for a number of his allies to be appointed in influential positions in the government in a bid to strengthen his 2022 bid.
Ruto did not contest the Jubilee party ticket in 2017, instead handing it to President Kenyatta with the latter promising to support the DP in 2022.
