MPs oppose latest move by Matiang'i's ministry
CS Matiang'i made a Sh3 billion deal that has angered MPs
Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho announced that the Sh3 billion tender for the fresh registration had been awarded to controversial French firm OT-Morpho alias IDEMIA.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has vowed to oppose the move and altogether ban IDEMIA from conducting business with State agencies.
Committee chair Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja MP) recounted how the firm refused to cooperate with PAC during investigations on the procurement of materials used by IEBC to conduct the 2017 General Election.
Kiems Kits provider rejected by MPs
IDEMIA provided the Kiems kits that were used in the August elections after being awarded a Sh4 billion tender, and a further Sh2.5 billion during the repeat election on October 26, 2017.
Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo echoed the Ugunja MP's sentiments saying that IDEMIA cannot be allowed to conduct the fresh registration process.
"They cannot be readily available when signing contracts but remain shadowy when asked to account for their dealings," Amollo stated.
