Government issues statement on Raila's flight being directed to Kisumu
The NASA leader is expected to land in Kenya anytime from now
ODM MP Junet Mohamed was first to speak on the purported re-direction of Odinga’s flight, claiming he was aware the government was working on the plan secretly.
On Friday morning, a poster was widely circulated on social media, purporting to come from the Managing Director of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA).
The poster claimed KAA had shut down operations at JKIA owing to the tense security situation, and that flights would be redirected to Kisumu, Eldoret, or Mombasa.
However, KAA has come out to deny reports, and confirmed that normal operations were ongoing at JKIA.
“Jambo, operations at JKIA are running normally. Kindly DISREGARD the communication currently circulating on social media saying the contrary,” KAA stated through their twitter account.
Meanwhile, tension remained high outside the JKIA as rowdy youth groups attempted to force their way into the highly secured airport.
