Uhuru, Kalonzo, Ruto and Raila succession plan
Who will take over?
Uhuru Kenyatta
With President Uhuru set to retire upon the completion of his second term, his son Muhoho Kenyatta stole the show when he campaigned for his father’s re-election in the recently concluded repeat polls.
This sparked a debate on whether the younger Kenyatta was making a debut in politics to take over the mantle from his father.
Since the colonial times, the Kenyatta family has been on the political scene with two members of the family rising to the presidency.
Raila Odinga
Given his advancing in age, the Public will be keenly watching who among his children will pick up the mantle from him.
Winnie Odinga has come out on numerous demonstrations organized by the opposition. Raila Junior has also been vocal, accompanying his father at rallies and commenting on issues of public concern.
The charismatic Rosemary Odinga is also a possible heir to the massive following that Raila Odinga enjoys across the country.
William Ruto
William Ruto is a self-made politician who hustled his way to the top and has declared interest in the 2022 race to State House.
Although his family has been away from the limelight, his eldest son Nick Ruto has accompanied him on many public functions in what many perceived to be his grooming before being thrust into politics.
Kalonzo Musyoka
Kalonzo Musyoka has had an impressive career, rising to the position of Vice President. He has fought many battles and emerged the undisputed king of Ukambani.
His son Kennedy Kalonzo has made a debut in active politics following his recent nomination to the East Africa Legislative Assembly.
Prior to his entry into politics, Kennedy was an administrator for the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation.
