Lawyer Ahmednasir comes to David Ndii's defence after passport was revoked

Uhuru's lawyer defends NASA team

Abdullahi, who represented President Kenyatta in the two presidential petitions of 2017, lectured the government - noting that having a passport is a constitutional right for all Kenyans.

"10 years ago a 3 judge bench of the High Court ruled that the right to a passport is a constitutional right...the right to travel is a bill of rights in the Kenyan constitution...," Abdullahi tweeted shortly after the government announced it had revoked Ndii's passport.

The outspoken lawyer has recently offered positive criticism to the Jubilee government's seeming disregard for the rule of law.

He recently defended NASA lawyer Miguna Miguna even though the two do not see eye-to-eye.

"In my view the Director of Public Prosecution shouldn't have charged Miguna Miguna at all.He isn't worth the time/resources the DPP will send...but now that he is in court..the DPP must prosecute & finalise the case within 120 days. By June we must have a conviction or acquittal," Abdullahi tweeted.

True to his credentials as a defender of an independent judiciary, the former President of the Law Society of Kenya was recently quoted by the New York Times castigating the state's failure to observe an order requiring it to switch on broadcast transmission.

“Kenya hasn’t seen anything like this before — this is unheard-of...When there is a court order you don’t obey, you look like a rogue state,” he stated.
