According to the former Prime Minister, there would be no government if President Kenyatta and himself had not met and buried the hatchet.

We could have continued with the way things were, but there would be no government today. That is why we decided to come together... Oh ‘now Raila is coming to Jubilee, he wants to kick out some people…’ Nonsense,” Mr Odinga stated.

He called on all politician to focus on working for Kenyans instead of putting much of their energy in 2022 succession politics as is the case at the moment.

Develop Kenya

We’re now in 2019, there’s still 2020, 2021 before 2022… so we are telling these people to give us space to develop Kenya first,” the former Premier stated.

Mr Odinga who also turned 74 on Monday lauded the renovation at Mama Ngina Drive, adding that Mombasa's development was key to the whole country as well.

We can transform Mombasa to make it look like Dubai... The first city in Kenya is Mombasa. All goods coming into Kenya enter via Mombasa… and so if Mombasa ails, it infects the rest of Kenya,” said Mr Odinga.

Tourism earnings were reported to have increased from Ksh119 billion in 2017 to Sh157 billion.

A report from the Tourism ministry, released by Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala at State House Mombasa on Monday, stated that the number of local tourists in 2018 was 3,974,243, a 9.03 percent increase from the 3,645,243 in 2017.
