NASA picks KDF boss, judge for Raila's inauguration

The Inauguration committee stated all is set for the historic swearing in ceremony

Apart from the representation from the military and the judiciary, the inauguration committee has also sent out invitations to select representatives from the Kenya Department of Prisons, the National Police Service, and to members of Independent constitutional commissions.

Despite the invites, the Opposition coalition is yet to identify a definitive venue where the controversial event will take place.

The names of the individuals chosen to represent these governmental bodies has also not been revealed.

Ten counties have expressed their will to host Odinga's inauguration ceremony.

“We have received several formal requests from various counties seeking to host this very important function on Jamhuri Day next week. The committee is currently considering this request from the counties".

“In all our actions we have been guided by our robust legal team that has proved itself much more competent than some elements who pronounced themselves on Thursday,” Noah Akala, head of the committee secretariat, remarked.

The NASA inauguration committee made the announcement shortly after Attorney General Prof Githu Muigai had announced that the ceremony would amount to treason and that those involved would meet "the full force of the law".

Police have stated that they would allow Odinga to hold his Tuesday meeting but added that they would not allow an illegality to take place under their watch.

It remains unclear whether the Inauguration Committee will use the same oath that President Uhuru Kenyatta took on November 28, or whether they will come up with their own words.
