Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo on Thursday revealed new details of the unity deal struck between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga.

Kabogo stated that during his recent meeting with Odinga, the unity deal was among the issues they discussed.

The former governor explained that he had asked the NASA leader on the reasons why the deal had taken too long to be implemented.

Kabogo added that Odinga assured him that the unity deal was on course, adding that the rival parties would begin reaching out to the rest of the country to enhance cohesion.

"We talked about the handshake and how we will move from there. It is a month since since the two of them had the handshake so I wanted to know how we will extend the handshake to the rest of the country. We agreed that he will begin spreading the message to his people, and we will do the same on our side," Kabogo stated during an interview with a vernacular TV station.

The former Governor added that among the issues agreed was an end to divisive politics.

He also called on politicians to put an end to the 2022 presidential campaign and instead concentrate on development.
