DP Ruto seeks peace with Raila

DP Ruto reduces attacks on Raila, urges Jubilee leaders not to attack NASA

Known for hard tackles and bashing the opposition at political rallies, the DP has in the recent past changed his approach and has been urging his Jubilee troupes to tone down the attacks on the opposition led by Raila.

Analysts believe this is part of a wider scheme as 2022 succession politics gain momentum with the DP leaving his options open should the Mount Kenya region fail to support him in 2022.

A section of leaders from the region have in the recent past warned the DP that their support would not be guaranteed.

Speaking to The Standard, his close ally Aden Duale who has also lessened his attacks on the opposition admitted that the move is strategic, making sure that the DP does not suffer any political “injury”

“He is a politician who thinks and plans strategically. He’s a very influential person who has been a king maker and who now has trained his sight on the bull’s eye,” said Duale.

Different analysts have attributed the DP’s current approach to a realization that he “does not need to create unnecessary enemies but instead build on a stalk of friends”.

Ruto who has declared interest in the 2022 presidential elections is understood to be building bridges, expanding his support base and eliminating any competition by making his political competitors and enemies his friends.
