Gideon Moi’s rival picked to cabinet

Simon Chelugui CS nominee

Simon Chelugui unsuccessfully vied for Baringo senatorial seat under Jubilee ticket during the 2017 general elections. The seat was scooped by the incumbent senator, Gideon Moi.

The ministry was previously held by Eugene Wamalwa, who has been nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and planning.

Mr Chelugui is a former Betting Control Board director and is a close ally of DP William Ruto.

The lad formerly eyed the gubernatorial position but later changed to contest for the senatorial post.

The former betting boss’s new position will be confirmed after he has gone through the vetting process.
