Why Uhuru met Raila for 4 hours at night this week

Uhuru and Raila’s 4-hour secret night meeting this week

The Sunday Standard reported that only a few aides attended the talks held at a restaurant within Vipingo ridge, with speculations rife that a Cabinet reshuffle in the wake of massive corruption and reports of a fallout in Jubilee may have been part of the agenda.

Reports indicate that the leaders also discussed matters of “National importance” including the progress made by the 14-member handshake team.

State House officials and Raila’s team are yet to disclose the agenda of the meeting.

Asked about reports of the president meeting Raila Odinga and DP William Ruto, Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe responded that only the president can confirm that.

“What I can say is that work is being done. The president is working behind the scenes…He doesn’t need to chest thump and issue orders for Kenyans to give him credit. This is the best way of working. Out of the public limelight but felt through the daily occurrence. Those who used to rush to him every Friday, cannot access him.” Said Murathe.

President Kenyatta flew to Vipingo on Monday and played golf at the Nyali Golf and Country Club up to Thursday.

Staff at the facility divulged that the president who was keen on maintaining a low profile kept a lean staff of 5-7 with the facility locked to the public when it was in use by the president.

Of late the president has been seen to be secretive with most of his actions catching both foes and allies unawares.

Commenting on this operations, an ally to the president disclosed that “The president’s operations are difficult to tell. He keeps everything close to his chest. Some of his communications are handwritten and typed once he is done”.
