President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared that he will not engage in any dialogue as the electioneering period is over.

Addressing mourners in Muranga, the President directed anyone with political interests to talk to Deputy President William Ruto.

Kenyatta further stated that with his term expiring in 2022, his focus was now on uniting the country and delivering his promise, leaving future political prospects in the hands of his deputy.

While addressing  mourners during the burial service of Muranga County Woman Representative Sabina Chege’s mother, the head of state declared that the period for politics was over and this is known to everyone except a few others.

His comments come amidst efforts by a section of religious leaders and Western envoys to push for dialogue to end the looming political crisis.

The calls for dialogue gained momentum after the opposition leader Raila Odinga announced that he would be sworn in and move to statehouse on 12 December 2017.

Ruto has declared interest in the 2022 presidential race with other leading politicians also eyeing the same seat.

Among those interested in the seat are Machakos governor Alfred Mutua, Peter Munya and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
