Rival factions within Jubilee party have resorted to employing dirty tricks to outsmart the other as the battle for the control of Jubilee party and 2022 succession gets nasty and almost reaching a climax.

Propaganda meant to sway public opinion and paint the rival camp negatively is a trick embraced across the board.

Central to this is several bloggers, popularly referred to as key-board worriors eager to push out the message to the public.

In disseminating their skewed messaging, each camp has maintained an active presence across social media platforms outright lies and baseless allegations are circulated.

While the Tangatanga movement that has embarked on an early campaigns for DP Ruto from all indications has disguised its activities as “development”, the Kieleweke wing has on numerous occasions pointed out that tangatanga is made up of power-hungry individuals engaging in politics at the expense of development.

Lobby groups

Perhaps for lack of ideas, the two wings copy each. A keen look at the strategy of the rival wings which includes formation of rival lobby groups and raiding each other’s camps leaves no doubt that it is a copy and paste.

First was Tangatanga and Kieleweke. Then came team embrace followed by Inua made up of female MPs allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto respectively.

The teams have also resorted to mobilization along regional lines with Tangatanga mostly comprised of MPs from DP Ruto’s Rift Valley turf and ‘rebel’ Mount Kenya MPs while Kieleweke is made up of those from Central Kenya region. Each wing is backed by a few politicians from across the country with allegations that some may have been bought to give the movements a national outlook.

Despite the clear trend, each team claims to have the best interest of Kenyans at heart and out to unite the country.

Questionable funds

The Kieleweke wing has accused the rival Tangatanga wing of masterminding massive corruption deals in the country and using the proceeds to fund their activities and make donations in church.

And the church has been the battle-ground where the teams engage in accusations and counter-accusations, some of which are outright lies.

The Tangatanga wing on the other hand has accused their Kieleweke counterparts of mismanaging public resources to fund their activities, geared towards scuttling dp Ruto’s 2022 bid.

They have singled out the confidential expenditure managed by the Interior ministry, which they allege is being used by PS Karanja Kibicho  to fund anti-Ruto activities and frustrate his 2022 bid.

A defiant Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro recently confirmed that “Since the fund (confidential expenditure) has been politically used against the deputy president, I will be proposing the scrapping of the same to ensure prudent management of public resources and to rein in some rogue public servants who are using the kitty to undermine Ruto”.

While Pulselive.co.ke cannot independently verify these allegations, they point to a worrying trend.
