Uhuru Gives PS One Week to Restore This Land
President Kenyatta gave the Lands Permanent Secretary a week to restore church owned land
Speaking on Tuesday, the President also directed the ministries to reinstate sponsorship of schools by churches.
He directed the Principal Secretary, Nicholas Muraguri, to convene a meeting with the Education Ministry on Wednesday to initiate restoration of church-owned land.
“There are many schools built and sponsored by Churches. Restore that sponsorship. I have also given one week to restore all Church-owned land and schools to their rightful owners,” said the President.
He stated that he was giving the directive on Church schools to honour the memory of the late Archbishop who passed away on November 4th after a short illness.
The President also told the congregation that the Government will start to engage closely with religious organisations to enforce better morality among school children.
Discipline in high school
He noted that the level of indiscipline among school children points to the fact that there was something missing in their lives.
President Kenyatta promised that the Government will restore chaplaincy in schools to help in mentoring and guiding children.
He spoke at the funeral service of Archbishop Emeritus of Mombasa John Njenga that was held at the University of Nairobi Grounds.
President Kenyatta said the Archbishop will be remembered for the role he played in creating a synergy between State and Church in improving education.
