Raila will use handshake to trap Uhuru- Mutahi Ngunyi explains

Ngunyi warns Uhuru

In his analysis titled: Will Uhuru-Raila HANDSHAKE Last?,  Mr. Ngunyi speculated that Mr. Odinga could use the purported deal to trap President Kenyatta.

According to the political scientist, the former Prime Minister was clever when he accepted nothing from the Head of State during the closed-door meeting.

Mr. Ngunyi theorized that by strategically giving everything and in turn accepting nothing, Mr. Odinga had trapped President Kenyatta.

"Raila Odinga went to Harambee House without an agenda and he left Harambee House without a deal! He gave everything he had and he received zero. To some people this was stupid but in my view, this was a clever ploy," he said.

Prof Ngunyi claimed that the NASA leader now had a blank cheque which he can write anything then purport Kenyatta had betrayed him and the agreement they had.

"By leaving with nothing Raila left with a blank cheque and he can use the blank cheque to claim anything.

And knowing Raila, he will claim all manner of inflammabilities. He will tell us that Uhuru promised him things that were never even discussed. This will include the presidency in 2022,”  Ngunyi said.

He divulged that it was detrimental for the two leaders to shake hands with no concrete deal on the table. Ngunyi added that Mr. Odinga cannot be trusted with a political blank cheque.

This comes amid divisions in NASA after the two leaders met. Opposition principals disclosed that Odinga neither consulted nor informed them about the meeting and only got wind of it from the media.

Wiper party Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC's Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula have supported efforts to have talks but termed the Harambee House deal as a personal one and not that of NASA and Kenyatta-led Jubilee Party.

The three want to be involved in the dalogue.
