President Uhuru watched in dismay as Waititu & MP Wa Muchomba clashed in public
Governor Waititu called out Wa Muchomba, for opening a rehabilitation centre for alcohol and drug addicts.
The Kiambu governor argued that it was not possible to rehabilitate over 6,000 people and that is why he had a parallel programme where he gave them Ksh400 daily.
His remarks left President Kenyatta surprised as the Head of State witnessed Waititu dismiss the County Commander with a hand gesture after he tried calm him down.
"Ukianda kila mahali, kama hapa Ndumberi huezi kuta mlevi the whole day... mimi naskia vibaya sana... watu kama hawa utawapeleka rehab gani?" the Kiambu County boss asked.
Wamuchomba on her part argued that young people struggling with addiction should not be given money but receive treatment for their addiction in order to curb the vice once and for all.
The Head of state witnessed the graduation of 66 rehabilitated alcoholics who received certificates from the President after successfully completing a nine-month rehabilitation programme at Mama Care Rehabilitation Centre in Wangunyu Primary School, Kiambu County.
President Kenyatta encouraged the recovering alcoholics to be ambassadors in the war against illicit alcohol and also urged them to hurry and get married so that they would start families.
He also commended the Kiambu women rep for initiating the rehabilitation program and encouraged other counties to borrow a leaf.
"This is a good project that needs to be emulated countrywide. We have all witnessed where the monies given to women reps are going," Uhuru urged.
Wa Muchomba stated that the rehabilitated men had been trained to be tailors, carpenters, and caterers to provide them with a source of income.
"We are giving them items bought by the NGAAF kitty to help them start businesses which will help support their lives and families," Gathoni told the attendees.
