DP Ruto breaks silence after skipping Uhuru's Mombasa event

Ruto speaks his mind

Deputy President William Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto broke silence barely a week after skipping President Uhuru Kenyatta's event in Mombasa.

On Tuesday night the DP came to the President's defense and cautioned Jubilee lawmakers for undermining the Head of State.

DP Ruto reiterated President Kenyatta's remarks and affirmed that the government was going to include all communities in the country on its development agenda.

Embarrassing the party

Jubilee MPs were asked by the DP to follow the set channels to air their grievances to avoid embarrassing the party and themselves.

After projects promised for decades became a reality under Jubilee many Kenyans especially Jubilee members understandably are asking us for more. This must be tempered with the reality of what we can afford. No region, community or Kenyan will be left behind now or in future,” DP Ruto stated.

Jubilee members must, however, use an appropriate mechanism to channel matters concerning us and avoid the unnecessary negative debate that only undermines the party, the party leadership and the President," he added.

Kiambu county governor, Ferdinand Waititu, condemned members of parliament from the county who are accusing president Kenyatta of neglecting the region in his development plans.

MPs lacking manners

Waititu lashed out at Jubilee MPs telling them they lacked manners for speaking through the media yet the president was in Kiambu and waited for them but they never showed up.

"Hawa wote wanapiga kelele hakuna alikuja, they boycotted. Walikataa kuja rais alishinda hapa, na hio ndio wakati wangesema wanataka nini. Ni programme gani wako nazo hapa," Governor Waititu said.

"Sio lazima upige nduru na uite magazeti ndio uongee na rais... that is wrong and that is lack of manners, that is lack of manners, yes, why don't you come when the President is here? Hio ni tabia mbaya," he added.

Kiambu lawmakers, led by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria have called out President Kenyatta for neglecting the central region when it came to development.
