DP Ruto and Orengo clash in Public

This comes a day after ODM MPs accused DP Ruto of using blackmail

Deputy President William Ruto and Siaya Senator James Orengo clashed in public over NASA’s push for constitutional reforms.

Speaking in Mombasa during the Third Annual Legislative Summit, the DP said that leaders calling for constitutional changes are lazy people who do not want to work hard.

He said that any discussion on constitutional reforms must be about the people and not about politicians.

“Orengo wants to drag me into the debate on the Constitution. But I want to say it clearly that when we will be ready to have it, it will be about issues or problems of Kenyans." He said.

Ruto’s words came after Siaya Senator and Senate Minority leader James Orengo called on the people opposed to constitutional reforms to sober up and facilitate honest discussions on the proposed changes.

He added that Jubilee leaders opposed to the reforms had resorted to personalized attacks and brought confusion on the changes proposed.

"The proposed reforms are not about NASA or Jubilee. They are for the good of the country. We need to have a sober debate on issues raised about the Constitution. Let's look at the message without attacking the messenger," said Orengo.

The clash between the two comes a day after a section of ODM MPs accused Ruto of using blackmail in his stab for presidency in 2022.
