Through KANU Secretary General Nick Salat, Moi informed the DP that they should put their political rivalry behind them as they propel President Uhuru Kenyatta to achieve his big four agenda.“Moi sent me to Ruto to tell him that we have to put the interests of the people of Baringo and other Kenyans first.“And the DP said let's work because we are here to serve Kenyans," Salat told a local daily.
Control of the Rift ValleyIn the recent past, Moi and the DP have been fierce political rivals as they seek to control the vote-rich Rift Valley.On the other hand, Moi has always insisted that he has no problem with President Kenyatta exuding confidence that he will back his 2022 presidential bid.Both the KANU chairman and the DP have declared that they will vie for the presidency in 20222.Mzee Moi's relationship with Uhuru KenyattaGideon's father, Mzee Arap Moi, is considered to be Kenyatta's political mentor and the two families have enjoyed a strong relationship over the years.
Mzee Moi took Kenyatta from the political oblivion and thrust him into the public limelight.He even backed his presidential bid in 2002 at the cost of more experienced politicians in KANU like the late George Saitoti and NASA leader Raila Odinga.

Owing to this relationship, some pundits and political analysts have opined that the Head of State might back the young Moi.
