The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) on Monday officially released the total number of Kenya's population including the statistics per county.

President Uhuru Kenyatta received the preliminary report at State House Nairobi from KNBS Director-General Zachary Mwangi and Labour CS Ukur Yattani.

President Kenyatta noted that the KNBS had made history by making Kenya the first African country to ever release census results after two months of the exercise.

He also noted that the 2019 census was the first to be conducted following the promulgation of Kenya's Constitution in 2010.

The Head of State directed government ministries to use the report for planning purposes.
