Barchok was on Thursday ferried in a Lexus LX 570 to the Bomet Stadium where his swearing in ceremony took place.
A section of Bomet residents had complained over the choice of the vehicle, fearing that the county had bought a new vehicle for the Governor.
However the county government later explained to Citizen TV that the luxurious vehicle had been hired for a few days to be used during the inauguration ceremonies.

Officials at at the Bomet County Government, however, did not explain why they had opted to hire the high-end car when Barchok had an official car which he had used as Deputy Governor. The county also has a reserve car for the Governor.
Barchok's predecessor, Joyce Laboso, used the less luxurious Toyota Prado before she succumbed last month.
The Lexus LX 570 is the same make that drives both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.
It is one of the most expensive vehicles and costs between Sh20 and 25 million in the local market.
