Rachael Ruto shares scary midnight experience in Mombasa after Jambojet plane's engine failed

Deputy President William Ruto’s wife Rachael Ruto has narrated a scary night experience after a KQ plane shge was flying in from Mombasa suffered a failed engine shortly after take-off.

Rachael gave the incident as a testimony of God’s favour in her life during an event at the Faith Evangelistic Ministries (FEM).

She told congregants that she had on Friday attended a prayer meeting in Mombasa accompanied by her Personal Assistant (PA) and a member of her security detail.

She wanted to return to Nairobi on the same day and booked a late-night flight back from Mombasa.

Misfortune started following her after realizing their KQ plane had been transferred to Jambojet, a sister company to the national carrier.

"We were supposed to leave airport at midnight and booked in at airport at 11pm only to find our KQ flight had been transferred to Jambojet because the former’s plane had not arrived."

"Before the flight, there was confusion here and there. In some instances it was discovered some passengers had been left so the door was opened and closed severally,” she recalled.

The plane finally took off but 15 minutes into the air, they heard a loud bang that startled her and the other passengers.

They later learnt one of the plane engines had failed, forcing an emergency landing back to the Mombasa airport.

The pilot called one crew girl who went to the cockpit and stayed for a while. She came back and said one engine had failed. Pilot directed we needed to fly back to Mombasa, people were shaken but I chose to pray with the crew girl and my PA.”

"I told God we cannot die prematurely before we finish our assignment on earth and he answered our prayers. We were just from a powerful prayer meeting,” Rachael said while encouraging congregants to trust in God.
