The week-long event, under the theme of ‘Powering Regional Integration through Trade’ is being held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).
The high-level business summit is being held through a partnership between the government and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
Despite being a business event, Munya's choice to invite Odinga to launch the conference appeared to confirm the shifting political dynamics in the Cabinet.
Munya is currently engaged in a bitter face-off with Deputy President William Ruto after the country's second in command accused the former Meru Governor of planning an assassination plot against him.
Munya has since challenged Ruto to make his complaint official, and vowed to continue chairing meetings bringing together senior government officials from Mt Kenya and which had formed the basis of the DP's assassination worries.
Also present at the Monday afternoon launch was Interior PS Karanja Kibicho who has an equally frosty relationship with Ruto.
