On Thursday, Molo Member of Parliament Kuria Kimani is said to have gone to the meeting meant to discuss the increased sale and consumption of illicit brew, while staggering.
The youthful MP had arrived in the company of his aides and tens of his supporters and angered residents who told journalists the MP was behaving oddly.
Residents claimed that Kimani staggered to the podium upon invitation in the meeting chaired by Molo Deputy County Commissioner David Wanyonyi.
MP slurred in his speech
According to Molo residents, the lawmaker slurred in his speech as he ought to address the crowd.
However, angry residents could not let the MP finish his speech as they shouted and threatened to beat him up.
Noticing the tension, police escorted Mr Kimani out of the baraza (public meeting) with residents expressing their disappointment with the MP.
On his part, Kimani maintained that he was not drunk during the meeting and claimed that his political opponents were responsible for that narrative.
"l usually drink, but honestly, I could not be drunk on Thursday evening. That is a lie advanced by my competitors. I am a father and a respected leader. I cannot do that,” the Molo MP said.
