1. Name

Though popularly known as GG Kariuki, his full name was Godfrey Gitahi Kariuki.
2. 4th Senator to die
The 78-year-old is the fourth sitting Senator to die since 2013.
The others include Mutula Kilonzo, Mutula Kilonzo (Makueni), Otieno Kajwang (Homa Bay), and Juma Boy (Kwale).
3. Nickname

His colleagues in the Senate used to call him 001 because of the many of years he has been a lawmaker.
4. Joined Politics
Kariuki entered Parliament as a lawmaker at the age of 23 years.
GG was the Laikipia West and Laikipia-Nanyuki MP at some point in his political career.
He also served as a minister in President Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki's Governments.

5. Achievement
He overcame all odds to acquire a Ph.D. in International Studies at the age of 76 years. In 2015 he graduated from the University of Nairobi.
6. Book
He has an autobiography titled: Illusion of Power: Fifty Years in Kenya Politics.
