On Friday, Key Empowerment Foundation Kenya associated with Rosemary Odinga was deregistered.
The Foundation’s bank account which had a whopping Sh70 million was also frozen.
According to the NGO Board CEO Fazul Mohammed the organization was operating illegal accounts with City Bank.
In a statement Mr Mohammed noted: “Your organisation is operating an illegal bank account titled "Payment NASA presidential agents" with City Bank”.
Mohammed directed the Central Bank of Kenya to freeze the said account immediately adding that the Foundation was registered February 15, 2016, contrary to Odinga’s earlier remark where he said that the Foundation was never registered.
Initially, Mohammed highlighted that the Foundation had received received Sh530 million from one George Soros.
On Tuesday, the former Prime Minister dismissed the NGO Board’s claims highlighting that it was a ploy instigated by Jubilee.
According to the NASA principal, Mr Mohammed was being used to 'assassinate' Rosemary’s name yet she has been away recovery following her sudden illness.
“Hon Raila Odinga’s family was shocked to learn of a defamatory attack against Rosemary Odinga, by the Jubilee government yesterday through its hatchet man Fazul Mohammed,” he said.
Mr Odinga divulged that the Key Empowerment Foundation Kenya was never registered hence impossible for it to have bank accounts.
He further noted that Rosemary was not even a board member at the Foundation.
“Fazul should be ashamed of himself. He know that Key Empowerment foundation Kenya was never registered unless he did it behind our backs, for purposes of character assassination,” the letter signed by Odinga PA Dennis Onyango read.
