Governor arrested in Nairobi

The governor is being held at the DCI headquarters

Samburu Governor Moses Kasaine Lenolkulal was on Wednesday arrested in Nairobi.

The governor was immediately taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road for questioning.

Earlier, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives raided the governor's home in Karen, Nairobi and his rural home in Samburu.

EACC investigating corruption in Samburu

An EACC official told reporters that they have been investigating Governor Lenolkulal in connection to Sh2 billion misappropriation of funds in his administration.

"There have been complaints of misappropriation of funds meant for the county which has prompted the searches," the official conveyed.

According to development of the events, the Governor and top executives in his team are implicated in the graft case.

EACC detectives also raided the offices and homes of directors and contractors at the county armed with search warrants.
