She was sexually harassing me - Babu Owino explains after bodyguards were accused of harassing Nairobi woman

Embakasi East MP MP Babu Owino has defended his bodyguards from accusations that they had harassed a woman at a popular city restaurant.

Owino said his bodyguards responded after the complainant, (who Pulse live will not mention), kept on sexually harassing him as he went about his business at Ankore Grill – a steak house in Nairobi.

"She wanted my number forcefully and was harassing me sexually so my bodyguard had to intervene."

"She kept coming to me and asking for a selfie and she was too touchy considering I don't know her. The bodyguards had no option but to intervene," the MP told Pulselive.co.ke.

On Twitter, where she raised the complaint, the woman claimed that she was harassed after asking the MP's security detail to vacate a reserved table.

Well we just came there and got physically harassed by Babu Owino's guards cos they had taken a table we had reserved. And your waiter apologized to him!! So no I do not believe in your magic,” she said in a complaint directed.

Owino has urged the lady to tell Kenyans the whole truth, adding that she understood her behavior "because she is still in adolescent stage."

The restaurant has since issued an apology, adding that it had communicated its displeasure to both parties.

"We extend our sincere apologies for the incident that took place at our premises yesterday evening. We have expressed our displeasure to all other parties in question. We wish to personally reach out to you to reclaim our long-standing relationship,” they said in a tweet directed to the lady.
