Nairobi gubernatorial debate

Candidates cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to vie for Nairobi Governor faced off on a Thursday morning in a debate.

The debate was hosted by the Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (Kara).

Present at the debate were incumbent Evans Kidero, Miguna Miguna (independent), Godfrey Wanyoike (independent) and Michael Mutinda (Agano Party).

Senator Mike Sonko and former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth were absent. Sonko sent his running mate Polycarp Igathe to represent him, but was rejected by the organisers.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto will on Thursday take their campaigns to EMbu County.

The two along with local Jubilee leaders will address supporters in Embu Town, Manyata, Ishiara, Siakago, Kiritiri and Karaba.

NASA in Narok

The Opposition NASA team led by flag bearer Raila Odinga will be spending a second day in Narok County as they continue to sell their recently launched manifesto.

Narok is considered by many political pundits as a swing county that will prove crucial in determining the winner of the August elections.

Kirinyaga's "Battle of the Queens"

President Uhuru Kenyatta during a tour of Kirinyaga County on Wednesday took a rare neutral position and left it to Kirinyaga voters to choose who between Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua and former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru will be their next governor.

Uhuru instead promised to work with whoever is elected in the August 8 election and promised to accommodate those that lost in his government.

Raila's rebel cousin

Nasa flagbearer Raila Odinga has promised a special reward to Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo if he returns to ODM.

Raila said Midiwo (who is his cousin) is more like a younger brother to him and said he will offer the Gem MP a plum job should he return to the fold once Nasa sweeps to power and the Opposition becomes president.
