On Tuesday, the Women Rep denied having swindled Sonko any money but gave several instances where she was allegedly conned by the current Governor.
The first incident took place in 2008 when she first run for the Embakasi parliamentary seat in a by-election occasioned by the death of Mugabe Were.
She said that at the time, Sonko was a businessman with several matatus which he hired to transport voters from neighboring. Passaris claimed that Sonko conned him and transported the voters to her rivals.
“I first met Sonko in 2008 when I run in the Embakasi by-election. He was a businessman in the area and I hired his matatus to transport voters from the diaspora. However, despite paying him, he played games on me and instead took the voters to Waititu (Ferdinand) and Mwenje (David),” she told a local radio station.
The city legislator said she had moved to court after Ferdinand Waititu was declared the winner in the by-election. Her petition, however, was overthrown after she was allegedly conned by Sonko who had offered to serve Waititu.
“After the election, I moved to court to file a petition and Sonko soon approached me telling me he knew where Waititu lived and said he was best suited to serve the court papers. My case was overthrown after Sonko called to say the guy he had given the papers had died in an accident,” Passaris further claimed.
She added that she was surprised in 2013 when she found Sonko hanging out with the person who had died while heading to serve Waititu.
2017 campaign money
Passaris did not deny getting help from Sonko, saying she understood him to be making up for the past instances he had “messed her up”.
The legislator, however, noted that not everything recorded by the Governor was accurate – saying she had noted several instances where her voice had been doctored.
The development came a few days after the two county leaders had an ugly public spat during the Madaraka Day celebrations.
The Nairobi Governor later accused Passaris of allegedly conning him some money in the petitioned filed against election in 2017.
