State House sent Kamanda to support ODM after Ruto sneaked Mariga to Uhuru’s office – Sifuna

"Mariga was hiding in Ruto's car boot"

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna

ODM Secretary General on Sunday claimed that Jubilee nominated MP Maina Kamanda was instructed by State House to offer support to Imran Okoth in the Kibra by-election.

Sifuna claimed that the decision was taken after Deputy President William Ruto allegedly ambushed President Uhuru Kenyatta by sneaking in Jubilee’s candidate in Kibra – McDonald Mariga.

The ODM SG insisted that the handshake was firmly in place and assured party supporters that the orange party would triumph in Kibra.

Raila Odinga's Office

Recently when we saw Mariga being given a Jubilee hat by President Kenyatta, opponents of the handshake were very happy saying the handshake was dead. The truth is that Mariga sneaked into State House by hiding in Ruto’s car boot. When asked at the gate, he said he was alone only to surprise the President.

That is why the following day, State House sent Maina Kamanda to Raila’s office to show support and campaign for ODM’s candidate Imran,” Sifuna told a rally in Kibra.

The ODM party boss was referencing Thursday’s press conference held at ODM Leader Raila Odinga’s private office where Kamanda announced he and several other Jubilee leaders would support Okoth despite Jubilee fielding Mariga in the November 7th by-elections.

Kamanda’s surprise endorsement had come a few hours after President Kenyatta received Mariga at State House on Wednesday evening.
