Student dies in machakos after pit latrine caved in

Muisuni high school in Kangundo, Machakos, is mourning the death of a 17 years old student after a pit latrine collapsed on Sunday.

The incident that is blamed on the heavy rains being experienced in most parts of the country also left another student injured.

Rescue mission

The deceased was among other girls who had gone to relieve themselves when the latrine caved in trapping in some students. The area residents rushed to help in the rescue mission while the rescue team from Machakos county emergency services joined them later.

The body of the deceased has since been transferred to Kangundo hospital mortuary. The injured student has also been moved from the same hospital to Machakos Hospital.

Precious Talent tragedy

The country has been experiencing heavy rains with floods being experienced in some areas, such as the north eastern region of the country.

The sad incident at Muisuni high school comes barely a month ago when another tragedy claimed the lives of 8 pupils at Precious Talent School in Dagoretti.
