DP Ruto finally speaks after attack on his home

DP Ruto has finally opened up following a daring attack at his Sugoi home.

Deputy President William Ruto has opened up for the first time following a daring attack that took place at his rural home in Sugoi on Saturday.

Ruto said that the attack was aimed at causing disunity among Kenyans as Election Day draws closer.

Speaking on Sunday to faithful at Ihura stadium in Murang'a, the DP told Kenyans to remain united.

"I know you all know that I had visitors in my home yesterday but I am not worried. I want everybody to know I believe in God and that nothing can happen to me.”

"I want to ask all of us not be distracted by the schemes and designs of people who are against our unity and progress as a country," he said.

On Saturday, an intruder attacked the DP’s residence, killing one officer and injured the other, who is recuperating in hospital.

The assailant was however killed by the General Service Unit (GSU) officers on Sunday morning, nearly 18 hours after the incident unfolded.

Ruto called on Kenyans to remain united and shun divisive politics.

"I urge everybody to embrace the spirit of brotherhood and work together to build bridges of friendship," he said.

He stated that the Jubilee government is committed to working with religious leaders to enhance unity.

The Jubilee Presidential running mate spoke during the enthronement of Bishop Timothy Irungu Gichere of the ACK, Diocese of Mount Kenya Central at Ihura Stadium, Muranga county.
