The governor received condeloence messages from among his counterparts, among them Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.
"My deepest condolences to my colleague, Governor, Tharaka Nithi, H.E. Muthomi Njuki , on the passing away of your dear mum.
"My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May the Lord comfort and strengthen you during this trying time," Governor Waiguru tweeted.

A strong woman of faith
Mama Jennifer has been described as a strong woman of faith.
She was a nursery school teacher and a businesswoman up until the time of her death.
Residents of the county have also sent in their messages of solidarity with the governor.

"My condolences to Governor Muthomi Njuki and the people of Tharaka Nithi County. We have lost a matriarch. It is well with her soul," one Gilbert Kithaka remarked.

The governor has been having a tumultuous time in office as some of women in his county protested alleged insults earlier in the week.
The women marched to his office and dumped underwear demanding an apology over his utterances.
The county assembly also impeached Muthomi's deputy, Susan Ngugi.
