The Jubilee candidate won with 120,005 votes against his closest opponent, incumbent Samwel Ragwa who garnered 51,320 votes. Onesmus’ win was credited to an impressive development record in his Igambang’ombe constituency that made him the people's favourite.

Mr Muthomi is credited for the tarmacking of Chuka town roads, Chuka technical training institute, rural electrification, K.M.T.C College, Youth programmes under NYS among other projects through lobbying in the National government. His CDF projects have also benefited many residents through bursaries, grading roads, construction of a constituency office, milk cooling plants for dairy farmers and construction of classrooms in schools, construction of administration blocks for security agents, among others.

It was double joy for Mr Muthomi as Patrick Munene or 'Muungwana Parto' his Former Personal Assistant won the parliamentary position for Chuka Igambang’ombe constituency on a Jubilee ticket after gathering 30,042 votes against his closest opponent John Mbabu who polled 20,646.

The youthful M.P served as a Personal Assistant to the then area member of parliament Hon.Onesmus Muthomi Njuki since 2013 and was actively involved in the 2013 elections campaign. His natural flair for public speaking made him a darling of the people who would attend public meetings just to listen to his address which was often livened with uproarious jokes and local proverbs.

And so in 2015 when his boss declared an interest to vie for governor Patrick decided to focus on vying for the parliamentary seat. He, therefore, resigned from his position as a PA and started campaigning. As a young aspirant, he focused on youth empowerment through sports and talent exploration, empowering women and supporting education in the constituency by rewarding ultimate performers.

Patrick Munene is poised to take over from his former boss, who is now Governor, and propel Chuka Igambang'ombe to greater heights.
