Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia on Friday announced that five teachers were sacked while 57 others were under investigations over malpractice during KCSE exam period.

Speaking during the release of the 2018 KCSE results, the TSC boss stated that cases of irregularities would be looked into.
“We will firmly deal with any irregularities.
“62 cases of non-conformity were registered by KNEC,” stated Macharia.
She further revealed that this year’s examination performance was an improvement from the last 2 years.
Teachers working out answers
In November, two teachers together with other ten people were arrested over being in possession of examination papers.
The teachers from Shikokho Secondary School in Ikolomani Sub County, were apprehended working out answers at their houses.
Elizabeth Atemi, who is the Deputy County Commissioner in the area mentioned that they had acted on a tip off and proceeded to confirm the allegations.
“We received information that two teachers from the school were hiding in a house near the school and were suspected to be writing answers for the students who were in the examination room,” remarked Atemi.
Atemi further pointed out that photocopies of exam papers where some contained worked out answers, had been recovered during the operation.
