Police believe that the two, who have previously been treated on terror-related activities, had been planning a terror attack.
Intelligence officials had anticipated an attack during the weekend following Eid ul Fitr which they now believe was delayed as a result of the technical issues with the explosive.
Anti-terror police unit responded after a loud explosion that went off at around 10pm in Swabrina estate in Likoni.
Two men who were inside the house had already been rushed to a private hospital which declined to treat them without understanding the source of their injuries.
One of the men escaped while the other one was Likoni District Hospital where the security officials followed them.
Upon interrogation, one of those injured claimed that they were injured after an unknown person threw a hand-grenade into their house.
The testimony was however found to be false after anti-terrorism police combed the house and found debris that contradicted the testimony.
The patient at Likoni District Hospital was placed under arrest while parents of the suspect who escaped were arrested.
"We have received reports one of them was jailed for three years and another four years and we are investigating that," Likoni OCPD Benjamin Rotich said while confirming the incident.
