Uhuru's niece Nana Gecaga angers MPs for wearing jeans, t-shirts at a serious meeting

Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) CEO Nana Gecaga on Monday attracted the wrath of MPs over the manner in which she received members of the National Assembly's Committee on Sports, Tourism and Culture.

The committee had informed Gecaga of their plan to visit the state-owned facility - two weeks ahead of the inspection.

The committee's Chair, Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka, cancelled the meeting claiming that Gecaga appeared unprepared and had kept the MPs waiting.

Ms Gecaga appeared ill-prepared for the visit despite having been notified by the Clerk of the National Assembly two weeks prior to the visit."

The members struggled to find their way into the building and to the CEO’s boardroom only to find her missing. They waited for about 30 minutes before she surfaced casually dressed in jeans trousers and a T-shirt on a weekday and seemed unbothered by the MPs’ presence," Mwingi West Charles Nguna, a member of the committee complained.

The KICC boss is a niece to President Uhuru Kenyatta and a grandson of former University of Nairobi Chancellor BM Gecaga.

Her brother is President Kenyatta's long-serving personal assistant Jomo Gecaga who recently attracted his boss' wrath for not taking notes during a meeting during a meeting with Kenyans living in Namibia

Jomo and Nana's other sister, Soiya, was recently appointed by former Education CS Amina Mohamed to a task force formed to audit content of learning materials approved by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).

The three Gecagas are some of the ten close relatives of the President who occupy high-level government jobs in the current government.
